In today's American society, immorality is practiced, excepted, and even promoted. No one seems to call society out on the carpet and expose the wrong they call right.

The Lord's church should be at the forefront of the battle, wielding the word of God as a sword, cutting through the veneer of man made morality, and exposing the wickedness that lies beneath. Unfortunately, the church is being influenced by society, instead of society being influenced by the church. If the Lord's people were living in submission to their King, there would be a stark contrast between the lives of those calling themselves Christians, and the lives of those in the world. Peter tells us in 1Peter 1:13-16 = Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; ¹⁴ As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: ¹⁵ But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner ofconversation; ¹⁶ Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. Peter leaves NO room for worldliness here in these verses! God's children must be emulating his perfect attributes. Sadly, few professing Christians "come down on the Lord's side" when making choices in their everyday life. The "R" rated movies spew forth filth in our homes, our children engage in "mixed" swimming, we dress in ways that show off our bodies, and we think nothing of sending our children off to the school dance, or worse yet, let them plop down in front of MTV for hours.

The contrast today is as it was thousands of years ago: (Jer 6:16) Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good

way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. Each wayward generation thinks they are more "enlightened", and on to

something new and better as they look down on what God has set forth as his law

and say, "That is old fashioned" or "That has nothing to do with today's society".

However, to their astonishment, they will find it has everything to do with today's

society as the words of Christ will judge us all in the end: (John 12:48) He that

rejecteth me, and recieveth not my words, hath one that judges him: the word that I

have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

It's tragically funny how we will listen to the so called "experts" on just about any subject, but we sneer at God Almighty's plain teaching in his Bible. Sadly, this very worldly attitude creeps into the church, little by little, until she is no different than the "adulteress generation" around her. The cry is to "take heed" lest ye fall. What the Supreme Court says, what the President says, what Congress says, what the media says, or even what our parents or spouses say, just doesn't amount to a hill of beans if it is in direct violation of Jehovah's laws and principles as put forth in his word!
